Fixed braces

Fixed braces have been a popular straightening teeth solution for decades because of their effective and predictable results. Whilst they are suitable for treating simple cases, for some complex orthodontic problems there’s still no competition for traditional fixed braces.

What’s involved?

With a fixed solution, our teeth straightening dentist, our dentist will carefully bond brackets to your teeth, before joining them together with a wire which gradually aligns your teeth into a straighter position. You’ll need to see our dentist every 6 to 8 weeks to change your wire and check on progress.

Treatment times vary depending on your individual alignment needs. For simple cases this could be just a few months, but for more complex movements, it usually takes between 12 months and two years to achieve your beautiful new smile. our dentist will give you an idea of how long your teeth straightening treatment may take during your initial consultation.

Bold or discreet… your fixed braces options:

Metal braces and wires

The classic, most recognisable brace. Following recent advances in technology, our fixed metal braces at Cedar Dental Care now use low profile brackets and wires for added comfort.

Clear braces

Often referred to as ceramic braces, tooth coloured braces or invisible braces, our clear braces at Cedar Dental Care use clear brackets and tooth coloured wires for added discretion. They get the same great results as conventional metal braces – but they’re much harder to spot.

3 simple steps to a beautifully aligned smile:

  1. Consultation and planning
After an initial consultation our dentist will take photos, X-rays and digital scans, or a dental impression, of your teeth. These records will take precise measurements to make your personal brackets and wires.
  2. Transformation
Once your brackets and wires are ready, our dentist will fit them ensuring they are comfortable, so you can begin your straightening journey.

You’ll need to return to see our dentist every 6 to 8 weeks to check on your progress and change your wire, to slowly guide your teeth into position.
  3. Retaining your new smile
Once your new smile is achieved, you’ll need to wear a retainer to ensure your teeth remain beautifully aligned. Retainers can either be removable clear trays, similar to a mouth guard, or a fixed retainer which are discreetly attached to the back of the teeth for continual support.
