Gursharan Minhas qualified at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Hospitals' school of Medicine and Dentistry in 1998 and undertook three-years of orthodontic specialist training at Guy's & Kings Hospital from 2001 to 2004. This was followed by a further 2 years of senior registrar training at The Royal Surrey and Eastman Dental Hospitals to accredit as an NHS consultant.
Gursharan has been working as an NHS Consultant Orthodontist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital Foundation Trust since 2007. She also holds a degree in Psychology, an area in which she holds a special interest.
She has been an Orthodontic Specialist for over 20 years and has treated many adults and children, from cases requiring simple alignment to severe jaw discrepancies requiring more complex care. She is keen to use the latest materials and techniques, keeping up to date with innovations and evidence-based research. Her personal commitment is to provide high quality care for all her patients in a relaxed and friendly environment. Gursharan is involved in teaching, training and examining orthodontic trainees to consultant level and supervision and publication of masters theses.
Outside of work she is a keen runner and enjoys trekking and travelling. She has completed a number of marathons and trekked to the Uhuru summit on Mount Kilimanjaro & reached Everest Base Camp, in aid of charity. She has also worked as a volunteer Dentist in Romania and as part of a scientific expedition to Mongolia. Gursharan was a trustee for The Water Tap Foundation (2016-2024) a UK registered charity, with projects focused in Malawi.
